ज्ञान – विज्ञान योग

The Yoga of knowledge and Wisdom

Bhagwan said to Arjun: “Practice yoga with complete attention and focus on me.  You will, without a doubt, learn my transcendent and inherent aspects.  I will guide you the comprehensive knowledge and wisdom, after which you will have nothing else remain to be learned.

मनुष्याणां सहस्रेषु कश्चिद्यतति सिद्धये ;
यततामपि सिद्धानां कश्चिन्मां वेत्ति तत्त्वतः
|| ३ ||

Manushyaanam sahasreshu kashchidyatati siddhaye;
Yatataamapi siddhaanaam kashchinmaam vetti tattwatah
||3||

Amongst thousands of seekers, there is hardly one who strives for perfection.  Amongst those who reach perfection, only a few have learned my true essence (Tattva).

Earth, water, fire, air, space, mind, intellect and ego, make up the eight fold division of my manifest forms.  The life-force element, by which the universe is supported, is my unmanifest form.  I am the origin and dissolution of the whole universe.  There is nothing higher than me.  I am the thread which holds the entire universe, like a thread holding gems.  I am the essence in all that exists in the universe.  For example, I am the taste in water, radiance in the Sun and Moon, Om in all the Vedas, and sound in the space.

Deluded by the three modes of nature (Satvik, Rajasik and Tamsik) the world does not know my absolute nature.

दैवी ह्येषा गुणमयी मम माया दुरत्यया ;
मामेव ये प्रपद्यन्ते मायामेतां तरन्ति ते
|| १४ ||

Daivee hyeshaa gunamayee mama maayaa duratyayaa;
Maameva ye prpadyante mayametaam taranti te
||14||

My divine energy, maya, consisting of the three modes of nature, is very difficult to overcome.  But those who surrender unto me can overcome it easily.

Four kinds of virtuous people worship me: The Distressed (Arta), the Seeker of Wealth (Artharthi), the Seeker of knowledge (Jigyasu) and Wise (Gyani Bhakta).  The wise excel among them.  I am extremely dear to the wise and he/she is dear to me.

Whatever form any devotee desires to worship, if done with complete faith, I make that faith firm and unflinching to make the devotee reach the desired form.

मायाम् तरन्ति ते

Bhakta alone will cross over the maya (delusion).
