In India, with the boom in economy, and resulting have transformed cities and rural areas surrounding it into big metropolises. Something that has been most severely affected by this “progress” is the green cover. The transformation has been so rapid that in less than a quarter of a century, Bengaluru Hasiruru Abhiyana, a drive to increase the green cover in the city has been started in what used to be the “Garden City” of India.
With independent houses, with their trees and lawns, being replaced by tall apartment building complexes, people have found terrace gardening, and ornamental indoor plants as a way to be close to the nature. Many depend on professionals to take care of these plants. Personally, I after retirement, I found it, taking care of plants, a quite fascinating experience. Sure, I had to learn quite a bit, and endured a lot of trial and errors, but overall experience has been quite interesting and satisfying. In this new venture, had to learn quite a lot of things and there, internet came to my rescue. From there I gathered information about various plants, their likes and dislikes for soil, watering, feeding, exposure to light and so on. Since I collected this information, I decided to share it with people interested in such information. To that end, on this site I am providing concise “how to” information for selected common house plants. Not most, but all this information has been gathered from various sources on the internet. Multiple sources were used to gather information about different aspects as well as cross- referencing of information for verification of the validity. It is not possible to provide links to all the sites I visited but wherever, I have tried to still provide links to various sources.
Here the Plant Care data has been presented for one plant on each page. In some cases, some specific information, if could not be found, has been left blank. I will continue this effort as I gather more information or information about more plants and keep up updating the site. Any feedback for its improvement is more than welcome.
